I listened and was so impressed by Mamdani. Shouldn’t some thought go to his proposal to fine synagogues $1 million for supporting Hatzolah in Israel. Do the people of Israel not deserve safety as do the Gazans? I’m troubled by this and hate to think. I keep thinking of Brad Landers support of Mamdani to ease my concerns

I agree that Mamdani needs to talk to Jews - but I believe his approach offers ways to reduce the Huge chasm between the very rich and everyone else.
If a rich person is shallow enough to make accumulating enormous wealth, their main purpose in life, they will do everything they can to work against Mamdani. But If they care about democracy and their country, and real solutions to problems, and working to make cities, indeed, more affordable, than I actually hope they will come to support him. But I am also a supporter of campaign finance reform because far too many of our politicians are just bought by billionaires and corporations.

In the White Paper of 1939, the British, who were then occupying Palestine, reduced Jewish immigration to a trickle and eventually closed it down altogether. So, Jews could not go to mandatory Palestine after the war. No other country--including the US--was willing to allow Jews in. Instead, Jewish survivors of the Shoah sat in Displaced Persons Camps, while known Nazis were allowed to emigrate and start new lives. Only after the War of Independence in 1948, were Jews allowed to immigrate to Israel.
This may sound like trivia, but it really makes the point that before, during and after the Shoah, the world turned its back on us. Without Israel, we Diaspora Jews could again find ourselves needing to flee and have no place to go. Considering the antisemitism emanating from both the right and the left in the US, this is not a trivial concern.

The fact that I watched an antisemite on video being interviewed as to why he voted for Mamdani and his answer was because he hates Jews, says a lot about what he represents, intentionally, or unintentionally. He has stated that he would arrest Netanyahu if he came to New York as a war criminal, but did we hear him say anything about arresting Hamas leaders? No. I think again, this says a lot.
Unsurprising that there is not a single Orthodox view represented here, despite that being the community most affected by antisemitism in NYC in particular, while you did manage to include the ultra-progressives of JFREJ and J Street. As usual, you entirely miss the mark while trying to pretend you're giving a fair representation of the issue, all while Orthodox Jews make up a full third of NYC's Jews (the largest denomination) and are easily its fastest-growing denomination as well, with estimates that half of all Jewish children in NY are Orthodox.

Mamdani as mayor would not be running Nassau county for example. The UJA number of 20% includes those outlying suburban counties that aren’t in NYC, but Orthodox Jews are primarily in Brooklyn, so excluding the suburbs gets you to the “one-third” number mentioned in the JTA article.
SRG is horrible & has been used against non-violent gatherings. The excessive NYPD overtime can be addressed with better scheduling, like nighttime shifts. Also, NYPD is not a social work organization.
It was frightening to hear Jonathan Greenblatt demand that Mamdani not pick the Jews that he talks to but rather that "he come to us" . Apparently Greenblatt has made himself King of the Jews.
