Thank you J Street, guiding star.

So right on. As the child of refugees from Nazi Vienna, I so appreciate what you are saying. Thankfully, this is not Nazi Germany and Americans are fighting back, because that’s what we do. A clip of constituents at a senator Grassley event in Iowa showed them insisting that Grassley act to protect refugees and asylum seekers such as Obrega Garcia. We must prevail

It reminds me of Nazi Germany, only 2.5 months.

I AM REMINDED OF CHINA UNDER CHAIRMAN MAO. IT WAS AN ANTI-INTELLECTUAL REGIME WHICH ATTACKED AND RE-EDUCATED PROFESSORS, TEACHERS, ANYONE THEY DEEMED ELITIST. I'M REMINDED OF THAT NOW, SADLY.

First of all, I want to thank Jeremy for writing yet another one of his powerful and insightful columns.

But I also want to respond to Timothy Naegele's comment. Mr. Naegele has made it clear he is a toxic combination of the far left (he opines that Israel has no right to exist) and the far right (he voted for Trump 3 times). But at least he gets one thing right - he is (very) belatedly criticizing "Trump's efforts to curb free speech." However, I can't help but wonder why it took him so long to open his eyes and see how repressive Trump has long been of the free speech rights of anyone who opposes him or his policies. Perhaps it's because Naegele's political views are not only contradictory, but also because they simply make no sense.

Tim and I have gone back and forth for years! I have told him I cannot begin to fathom his support for Trump and he has made it clear he couldn't fathom my support for (fill in the blank: Obama, Clinton, Biden, Harris....). We disagree on his characterization of much of Israel and the Jewish people as well. We find common ground in our distaste for what Netanyahu is doing to Israel and the whole Middle East!

Thank you, Jeremy. I have enormous respect for you, which was discussed in an article that I wrote in 2023.

As a non-Jew I have given modest monetary support to J-Street for some years now because I have felt the spirit here reflects my own feelings on matters of US policy and its stand on Middle East matters, notably Israeli/Palestinian. The discussions here have always been reasonable and intelligent and panelist at meetings have been excellent. I would hope that the sentiments and ideas expressed in this Word piece can find audience in the broad community. Many thanks for your efforts to support law and justice broadly. We so need you now.

Thank you so much, Frank. Really appreciate the sentiments. We will keep up the fight!

Have you seen/heard this excellent 7-minute talk by Timothy Snyder on fomenting anti-semitism? https://snyder.substack.com/p/fomenting-antisemitism

Yes, highly recommended. He's written about this as well.

Thank you Jeremy, for speaking the words stating what is in so many of our hearts.

It's a tragic irony that the Jewish people who have suffered so much from oppression and antisemitism are now being used by the Trump administration to degrade and possibly destroy the very democracy and rule of law that has protected us in our journey in America. Thank you, J Street, for standing up.

I am pleased that you have finally used the phrase "it can't happen here" to describe what is going on in this country--a regime led by a man who admired and is informed by Hitler. It must be used much more to get people to realize that it is happening here. It is an important step that a Jewish coalition has issued a statement calling out Trump's using antisemitism as a pretext for going after universities and others. However, much more than a statement is needed to get that message across. Of course, what is conspicuously absent from this coalition are most of the organizations known as the Jewish Establishment--how shameful.

Thank you for your outrage. It’s important.

Yes, Trump is only using the Jewish people as a pretext for assaulting universities, the courts, and the rule of law. He is using them as a scapegoat. His intention is that people will see these things done in their name and blame the Jews for it. Then he will have support to come for the Jews, especially those who don't agree with him.

Thank G-d for J Street, New Israel fund, and others who make it clear that the deeds of Netanyahu, and of Trump, are not done "in our name." The fact that Trump listens to Betar, not to the Anti-Defamation League, which has branded it as a hate group, tells us that we are in deep trouble. It tells us everything we need to know about Trump. It tells us that Musk's Nazi salute and the administration's support of AfD are not accidental and are not anomalies. It tells us that when he hosted Nick Fuentes, he hosted an ally.

He must be impeached and removed. Congress must find the courage to do it.

A 30 year old “student”. Who is gaslighting who here? An adult professional troublemaker? That I can believe.

30 year old “student”……

30 years old.

30.

I’m 70 years old. Don’t treat me like I was born yesterday.

Wonderful, and long overdue:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14622137/Trump-golden-dome-missile-plan-revealed.html ("Secret plans for Trump's 'Golden Dome' missile shield revealed")

No one should forget that on October 7th, Israeli intelligence was nonexistent; the Mossad was hiding somewhere; and the highly-touted "Iron Dome" was porous at best.

Predicably, the butcher Netanyahu unleashed Hell, killing innocents and triggering anti-Semitism that has reached levels globally that have not been seen since World War II. This is the tyrant's "gift" to global Jewry. No Jew is safe anywhere.
