Mayor Biss is hugely unpopular in Evanston. His time here has been a disaster in many ways. Luckily, he has about as much charisma as a blocked sink. He talked to my son's AP gov class and they thought he was an elitist, white saviour complex, stuffed shirt, media trained robot expletive-head. My guess is that Kat Abughazhaleh will beat the pants off him. And happily so

Gentlemen, you are ignoring the fact that America has always been associated with liberty and justice for all. Israel represents the antithesis of that, ethnic supremacy with a 77 history of ethnic cleansing. To believe that one can be a supporter of liberty and justice for all and at the same time a supporter of ethnic cleansing is the purest hypocrisy. Claiming the contradictory stance has made the US the hypocrite of the world.

There can be no special case of a group of people anywhere who are allowed ethnic supremacy. Americans express remorse for what the US did to the American Indians. It is hypocritical to then say Israel doing the same thing is fine. Just as the Indians vowed that they would not yield their land to the white man and fought a defensive war to stop it, so also have the Palestinians, whether it be the PLO/Fatah or HAMAS, expressed exactly the same motivation of keeping their land. This is the very definition of defense that has been incorrectly appropriated by the aggressor, Israel as it has taken Palestine.

To state that one is outraged at what Israel has done since Oct 7 is insufficient. Liberty and justice for all cannot accept the project of Zionism which is Israel. To do so throws away the very foundation of America, stated in our Pledge of Allegiance. It has been a horror to this writer to watch the US fully support Israel in every way, financial, military and diplomatic allowing it to do whatever it wants without any consequences. I was shocked to hear President Biden declare himself a Zionist as this means he is a traitor to liberty and justice for all.

It is disingenuous for anyone to simply say that they support the right of the Jewish people to have a land of their own and say no more. The fact is that this "right" means taking the land from the natives who have no rights at all, the terrible history of Israel that started in 1948 and has escalated to the stunning atrocity of Gaza not just since 2023 but continuing as I write with Gazans continuing to be killed during a "ceasefire" and total terror by the settlers in the West Bank.

Anyone wanting to take a seat in the United States Congress must state that he or she will not continue support of Israel in any way unless it declares the rights of all to live in Israel, abandoning ethnic supremacy. There is no such thing as "liberal" Zionism. I want to hear this from Daniel Biss.

I love Jaime Raskin (D-MD) but he takes some AIPAC money. Does J Street endorse him?
